Omega Watches Company

The Omega watch company came into existence when Louis Brandt, a watch maker from the Swiss village of La Chaux-de-Fonds in Switzerland opened shop in 1848. He began by making key wound pocket watches. The Omega actually came in to being in 1894, after the death of Louis Brandt, when his sons took over his watch making skills and continued the legacy their father had once started. The Omega Speedmaster takes the cake for having been the company to record the official GMT date and time, when man put his first steps on the moon’s surface, creating history on 20 July 1969 at 2:56 GMT. It is the only watch to have withstood all the tests of the US Space Agency, which included shock, vibration and temperature resistance tests from -18 degrees to +93 degrees Celsius. The stylish Omega watches have always been connected with famous film stars and sports personalities, which is another feather to its cap. The Omega Seamaster was apparently a favourite choice for James Bond, the famous dashingly handsome spy. The Omega watch is a hot favourite among celebrities, the rich and the famous. Each Omega watch is individually tested, on the wrist for its temperature, shock and vibration resistance. Its quality has lived up to its name ever since its inception over 150 years ago, in a small village. Omega has one of the top positions of being the best watch making companies in the world. With great personalities as their brand ambassadors, the Omega sure has created a large market for itself.
